Ratio of carbon to nitrogen. C:N ratio was measured using a Carlo Erba NA1500 Elemental Analyzer. Standards were acetanilide, methionine, graphite (USGS 24, USGS 40, and USGS 41) (Verardo, Froelich, & McIntyre 1990).
