Electron transport rate (ETR), estimated from chlorophyll fluorescence, is a widely-used indicator of photosynthetic activity (Kitao et al., 2021).  It is used in pulse amplitude modulated (PAM) technology to calculate photosynthesis as the electron transport rate (ETR) through Photosystem II (PSII) (​Ritchie, 2012).
