Concentration or other measure of biogenic silica. Biogenic silica (bSi), also referred to as opal, is a biogenic mineral comprised of hydrated silica. "Biogenic silica" refers to the nanostructural form of silica found in living organisms, such as diatoms and sponges, which is characterized by spherical structures and a highly porous nature.
